Huntington Bank Mortgage Expands with New Corporate Finance Business

Huntington National Bank has announced the expansion of its commercial banking capabilities by introducing a corporate mortgage finance business. This strategic move is designed to enhance Huntington’s comprehensive suite of financial solutions tailored for mortgage originators and servicers.

This development builds upon Huntington’s recent establishment of a specialized mortgage solutions team. This team focuses on providing customized cash and treasury management services to various entities within the real estate and mortgage ecosystem, including mortgage originators and servicers, title companies, private equity firms, hedge funds, and property managers. Huntington also offers robust capital markets and fund finance solutions, further solidifying its commitment to companies operating in the mortgage sector.

The newly formed corporate mortgage finance business will concentrate on delivering bespoke funding and liquidity solutions to mortgage originators and servicers. This division will be spearheaded by Ken Logan, a seasoned industry professional who recently joined Huntington as senior managing director. Logan brings over 35 years of experience in mortgage finance to the bank, including 12 years at Wells Fargo and most recently at Signature Bank. Huntington Bank is actively recruiting additional experienced bankers to further strengthen this team.

“Our commitment to the mortgage industry is demonstrated by our development of a wide range of leading capabilities designed to serve mortgage originators and servicers. These capabilities are supported by highly experienced leaders who possess a deep understanding of our clients’ specific needs,” stated Tizu Menelik, Huntington’s executive managing director of corporate, specialty and government banking.

Scott Kleinman, president of Huntington Commercial Bank, emphasized the strategic importance of this expansion, noting, “This enhancement significantly strengthens our ability to effectively address the diverse financial requirements of companies that constitute the mortgage ecosystem.”

This initiative is part of Huntington Commercial Bank’s broader strategy of geographic and vertical expansion. Recent growth initiatives include expanding its commercial banking presence in high-growth regions such as the Carolinas and Texas, and the creation of specialized verticals in areas like fund finance, healthcare asset-based lending, and Native American financial services.
