Southwest Capital Bank: Exciting News and Continued Commitment to New Mexico Communities

Southwest Capital Bank is thrilled to share significant developments that will enhance our services and strengthen our commitment to you and the New Mexico community. We are proud to announce our intention to join forces with US Eagle Federal Credit Union through an acquisition. This partnership marks an exciting chapter for Southwest Capital Bank and promises expanded opportunities for our valued customers.

US Eagle Federal Credit Union, based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, shares our dedication to local management, local decision-making, and community input. Their operational philosophy closely mirrors Southwest Capital Bank’s long-standing approach. With eleven branches across Albuquerque, Santa Fe, and Farmington, New Mexico, US Eagle FCU will complement our existing locations in Las Vegas, Mora, Pecos, and Albuquerque.

Upon the successful completion of this acquisition, Southwest Capital Bank customers will benefit from an expanded branch network and a wider array of financial products and services. This merger will create new avenues for us to better serve the community and provide even more comprehensive banking solutions. We firmly believe this is a positive step forward for both Southwest Capital Bank and US Eagle Federal Credit Union, and we are enthusiastic about the beneficial impact it will have on the communities we serve.

A Legacy of Local Banking Since 1969

Southwest Capital Bank has been a family-owned institution since 1969, when the Levenson family acquired it. Under their dedicated leadership, the bank has experienced significant growth while maintaining its commitment to community values. We are immensely proud of our achievements and eagerly anticipate a bright future as part of the US Eagle FCU family.

The acquisition is projected to be finalized in the second quarter of 2025 and is subject to regulatory approvals. Until then, Southwest Capital Bank and US Eagle Federal Credit Union will continue to operate independently, ensuring uninterrupted service for all customers. We remain committed to providing the same high level of service you have come to expect from Southwest Capital Bank.

Update on Federal Business Registration Requirements (FinCEN BOI)

We understand there has been confusion regarding the federal requirements for businesses to register with the Department of Treasury’s Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) and Beneficial Ownership Information (BOI). The legal landscape surrounding these requirements has been dynamic. While initially required to be effective January 1, 2025, the requirements were halted on December 23, 2024, by the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals. Subsequently, the reporting requirements were briefly reinstated before being paused again on December 26, 2024, by the same court.

Currently, businesses are not required to report BOI information. However, due to the ongoing legal proceedings, we strongly advise business owners to stay informed about potential future developments. For the most up-to-date information and any specific questions or concerns, please contact FinCEN directly through the following channels:
