United Citizens Bank of Southern Kentucky has announced a new era of leadership with the appointment of Matt Loy as Chief Executive Officer. Taking office on April 1, 2014, Loy, an Adair County native, now heads the $133 million financial institution, which proudly serves the communities of Adair, Taylor, and Russell counties. This announcement marks a significant step for United Citizens Bank and for Loy himself, who has deep roots in the region.
“I am truly excited about this opportunity,” Loy stated. “It’s both a challenge and a significant responsibility. I am proud to lead United Citizens Bank into the future, and I am confident that we will achieve great things together. We are fortunate to have the most dedicated employees and a committed Board of Directors. I firmly believe that banking is as much an art as it is a science, and it is a privilege to be part of a bank that is locally owned and deeply committed to supporting the families and businesses within our community.”
Loy’s journey with United Citizens Bank began in August 2005 when he joined as Internal Auditor and Loan Review Officer. His career progression within the bank reflects his dedication and expertise. Prior to UCB, he served as an Internal Auditor for First Corbin Bancservices, Inc., starting in 2003. Since 2008, Loy has held the position of Vice President/Chief Financial Officer for United Citizens Bank, demonstrating his consistent growth and increasing responsibility within the organization.
His local roots are a cornerstone of his commitment to the bank and the region. A graduate of Adair County High School and the University of Kentucky, Loy embodies the values of the community United Citizens Bank serves. He and his wife, Megan, are raising their two children, Connor and Ila, in Adair County, further solidifying his connection to the area.
“It means a great deal to me to be able to make a positive impact in my hometown,” Loy added. “There truly is no place like home, and I believe Adair County’s potential, and indeed the potential of Southern Kentucky, is unlimited. United Citizens Bank is positioned to be a vital partner in realizing that potential.”
United Citizens Bank has experienced substantial growth since its inception in December 2004 at its main office on Jamestown Street. Starting with over $130 million in assets, the bank has expanded its footprint to four locations to better serve its customers. In addition to the Main Office, United Citizens Bank operates branches at Highway 55 in Columbia, Campbellsville Bypass, and in Russell County on South Highway 127. This expansion underscores the bank’s commitment to accessibility and service within Southern Kentucky under strong local leadership.
