In August 2005, a dedicated group of local investors, community leaders, and business executives, under the guidance of President and CEO Mark Duffy, embarked on a mission to establish a new community bank deeply rooted in Snohomish County. This vision materialized in July 2006 with the grand opening of Mountain Pacific Bank at the Everett Gateway Center on Broadway.
The founders and directors recognized a crucial need for a truly local banking institution. They observed that some existing local banks, having grown significantly, were shifting their focus away from the immediate community, prioritizing expansion beyond the Snohomish County area. Mountain Pacific Bank was conceived to directly address this gap, reaffirming a commitment to the financial well-being of local residents and businesses.
As the financial landscape became turbulent in 2008, Mountain Pacific Bank demonstrated resilience and foresight by opening a second branch in Lynnwood, at the intersection of 196th and Highway 99. This strategic move occurred during the Great Recession, a period that unfortunately led to the closure of seven local banks within Snohomish County. Mountain Pacific Bank not only weathered this storm but emerged as a pillar of stability for the local financial community.
In 2012, the exceptional leadership of President and CEO Mark Duffy was publicly acknowledged when he was named Executive of the Year by the Herald Business Journal. This recognition celebrated his skillful navigation of Mountain Pacific Bank through the economic crisis, playing a vital role in preserving community banking in Snohomish County.
Today, Mountain Pacific Bank stands as the sole 100% locally owned and managed community bank headquartered in Everett, Washington. By the end of 2012, the bank had distinguished itself as one of the Top 5 fastest-growing banks in Washington State.
